Andrew Johnson

A resident of Donaldsonville and a retired mill worker, he died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. at Gonzales Healthcare Center of natural causes.  He was 97 and a native of Barton.  Visiting on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 from 4p.m. to 6p.m. at Demby & Son Funeral Home, Donaldsonville.  Visiting continues Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9a.m. until Reciation of Rosary at 10:15a.m.  Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, celebrated by Rev. Ayo Emmanuel Efodigbue.  Interment in Mt. Triumph Baptist Church Cemetery.  He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Dianne and Alfred Perkins of South Bend, Indiana, six grandchildren, four of whom he reared; Felton and his fiancee Myra Gordon and Ted Bibbs, Tangy Gipson and her husband Gerard, all of Donaldsonville and Kimberly Johnson of Jacksonville, Fl., four great-grandchildren, twenty-four great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Andrew and Olivia Johnson, his first wife; Beatrice Johnson, his second wife; Velma Dupard Johnson, a daughter; Velma Bibbs, two great grandchildren; Terrie Bibbs and Jarrad Gipson, and a niece and caregiver; Brenda Johnson.  He was an usher of St. Catherine of Sienna and a member of The Knights of Peter Claver Third and Fourth Degree.
