Phyllis Sylevena (Sylvia) Brunswick passed from mortality to immortality on May 22, 2018. She was born on November 17, 1943 to the late Charles and Albertha Hodge on the beautiful Island of St. Kitts, British West Indies. Phyllis received her early childhood and High School education at St. Johnson’s Village Methodist Church School, Basseterre, St. Kitts. At the age of 18, she migrated to St. Thomas,
Products. She worked at that location for over ten years. She was later transferred to the Avon Products campus in Delaware. It’s in Newark, Delaware where she met her soulmate and best friend, Herbert J. Brunswick, Jr.
U.S. Virgin Islands, where she was trained in Culinary Arts and worked in the food industry in several capacities in some of the island’s finest restaurants.
In the early 1970’s Phyllis relocated to New York and was employed by Avon
On December 25, 1985 she and Herb were joined together in holy matrimony. They later moved to Duluth, Georgia in January 2000. She retired from Avon two years later.
She is the youngest girl of ten children, including two brothers and seven sisters: Preceding her are Leonard Hodge, Basil Hodge, Mary Hobson, Martha Hobson, Dora Hodge and Edith Parris.
She is survived by sisters Iris Hobson of St. Thomas, Maisy Hensley of St. Kitts and Yvonne Hodge of St. Thomas, her loving husband Herb Brunswick and five children: Randolph Charles, Jr., Nathan Brunswick, Jermaine Brunswick, Charlena Brunswick, and Anita Brunswick; six grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Visiting 9 AM on Monday, June 4, 2018 at St. Phillip Baptist Church, 7471 La 405, Donaldsonville until religious services at 11 AM, conducted by Rev. Roland Julien, Pastor. Interment in the church cemetery.Email obituary
